A few pictures from the last month.

We’re really happy about the upcoming album and we hope you’re gonna like the songs as much as we do. Right now Mia is recording the lead vocals and everything is starting to fall into place. The drums, bass and guitars were recorded in Gothenburg but the vocals are recorded here in Stockholm. As you can see below the song booth is really glamourous. But the lack of walls doesn’t seem to bother the happy hummingbird.

It’s been a long and rocky road to get here. First you have to climb the high song writing mountain; coming up with ideas, rejecting them, coming up with better ones and chose which ones that get to live. Then you enter the studio and there’s the next barrier to cross. The big scary ocean of performance anxiety…

Though it’s not always a bed of roses, there’s always fun along the way. Here’s a cute picture of Mia on a very creative day:

And here’s my lovely ladies having a (well, a few…) well-deserved beer after a long day in the studio:

On sunday we go back to the wonderful Music-A-Matic studio in Gothenburg to record additional guitars, backing vocals and to check if they’ve put our wonderful piece of art up on the wall.

The best part is that all the hard work of making this album will be greatly rewarded when we get to see you guys on tour next year!

Peace and good night my friends.

Love/Klara

Studio update – lead vocals almost done!

We spent the whole last week recording lead vocals. I’ve been screaming the shit out of that expensive microphone, and during one song I was close to both faint and puke at the same time, hehe.. and my right thigh has a large bruise, because I’m “keeping the beat” by beating myself hard on the leg (unconsciously).

But I don’t want to mislead you with this summary, we are not making a death metal album :-) But I have really killed the last “female” touch I once had(?) in my voice, it’s pretty rough these days!! We’ve got the heavy stuff, the melodic and (a lot of) rock’n'roll stuff, amazing quality gear (Mesa Boogie, Ampeg, Yamaha, Sabian…), extremely professional producer and sound engineer, and the most important part; gRRRRReat songs! No bad reviews in the world could wipe the smile off my face ’cause I’m so proud of what we’ve done so far with this album, and it already sounds great even though it’s not even close to done. And one of the reasons why we choose to work with Chips is because he don’t want to mess up the sound. We want it to sound REAL. Far away from the modern, over-produced metal and rock of today…

..so as you can hear, I have a very good feeling about this :-) And I really hope you will share this feeling too once you get to hear it! It won’t take long ’cause we want to bring the new album with us when we start touring – in March! More info coming soon!

Tomorrow we will continue with the lead vocals, I have 4 songs left to record. My voice is still in good shape even though I’ve been pushing it a lot last week and started up with a cold. So, time to go to bed and dream about the release party…

Sweet dreams!
Cheers / Mia

Studio update – Vocals done on the 1st track!

I wasn’t sure if my voice would last the whole recording session today but it did! I didn’t have much strength left in the end but at least 1 track’s got vocals on it now! We’re recording the vocals in our producers’ studio / rehearsal place so it’s not as cosy as the Music A Matic Studio, this is more of a rehearsal place in a basement. It doesn’t matter for the sound, only for the feet! Next time I will bring a pair of extra warm socks for the cold concrete floor… (Burr sa Burre!)

The song we recorded today is one of the most “different” songs on the album, it’s nothing like what we’ve written before. It’s a really cool track that we all like ’cause it’s a great tune and it’s fun to play as well. Wish I could play it for you so you knew what I’m talking about!! :-)

Now I’m going back to bed with my Friday night party drink – green tea with honey.. Hell yeaH!

Have a great weekend!
<3 Mia

Recording vocals?

I’m on the way to Chips Kiesbye’s studio in Stockholm now to start with the vocals after a one week brake due to horse jumping and Chips other producing and mixing works… Don’t know if we can start today really ’cause I’ve got a bad cold, I try to cure it with everything I can find, peppermint oil, ginger tea, lemon, honey, garlic sandwiches…. everything! my voice is pretty much ok, it’s more the noose.. and if it’s not clear the voice won’t sound to good either, haha..

But I’ve prepared and done some warm up excercises, I’ll go to the studio now and We’ll see how it sounds and feels once we get started. If it sucks, I will rest the whole weekend and sing twice as much next weekend instead, already missed one recording day. I won’t let a stupid cold affect our work, winter – leave me alooone!!!

I’ll let you know later how it went ;-)

/Mia

Studio update, day 10

Hello!! Since the internet connection sucks here in the studio it’s difficult -impossible- to upload pics :( but we can tell you that it looks quite the same everyday:)

We play, eat, sleep, play, eat and sleep.. Hard work 24 hours.. Right now Ida is recording bass on the last song, then it’s Klara’s turn and tomorrow I have to finish my last 7 tracks. While i’m waiting I am practicing guitar, recording with the video camera and sometimes I’m just lazy doing nothing, feeling nervous about next were horse jump competition in the Globe Arena and for all my vocal and lead guitar recordings that I will finish when we get back to Stockholm again.

So tomorrow is the last day of the first recording session, We’re half way there!!!!

Stay tuned!

Short summary in english: We’re really proud to be a part of a new chlidren’s book. It’s unfortunately not yet translated into english.
